Sapphire Fibres has been in operation for the last five decades and holds a good position among textile exporters. The core business portfolio of the group is yarn, woven, knit fabrics, home garments and electricity generation. The group has 24 manufacturing facilities in Pakistan and is employing more than 15,000 people. Its annual turnover is over US$1 Billion (approx).

It started its business in 1960 in East Bengal. In 1970, Sapphire set up its first spinning plant in Pakistan. In 1980-90 major expansion was made into yarn spinning, and this lead it to becoming one of the largest yarn producers in Pakistan.
Sapphire started work on 234 MW Combined Cycle Power Project in 2006 and was the 2nd IPP in Pakistan to achieve financial close in 2009.
