Renewable energy has also an important place in the strategy of Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) as the government is moving forward to diversify its energy resources to drive sustainability at the economic and environmental fronts. OPWP plans to implement several solar and wind-based renewable energy projects in a move to generate 10 per cent (2,500-3,000 megawatt) of power in the total mix by 2025.
This campaign concerns the installation of ground monitoring stations to collect wind data across seven sites around Oman. For conducting the campaign, OPWP floated a tender seeking proposals from bidders. OPWP is currently evaluating the bids submitted by contractors to carry out the campaign.
