Carlos Amaya is an environmental engineer with expertise in resource efficiency, particularly with regard to water and energy. He has significant expertise in developing water and energy efficiency strategies for commercial and industrial sites in several sectors, including petro-chemical, food processing, automotive, mineral processing, etc. Developed multiple environmental management systems and procedures for clients in Australia and the UK. Moved to UAE in 2009 to work as Sustainability Manager in the Masdar City Development. Then joined the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council where he helped to implement the Estidama program, the only mandated sustainability program for the built environment. Subsequently joined the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) as DSM Manager responsible for implementing demand side management strategies for existing buildings in Abu Dhabi. Then moved to QCC as Senior Specialist responsible for product conformity activities that support the Abu Dhabi government’s sustainability agenda. Currently working as a Senior Specialist, Demand Side Management at the Department of Energy where the primary role is to support the government in the delivery of the DSM Strategy 2030.
