CEBC AT THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE INNOVATION SUMMIT (EVIS) 2022

The Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) was delighted to be a Strategic Knowledge Partner of the inaugural Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS) that took place on 23-25 May 2022 in Abu Dhabi. More than 3,000 visitors attended the summit throughout its three days. EVIS featured more than 100 expert speakers from more than 30 countries discussing the status, future, challenges, and opportunities in the electric vehicle (EV) market globally and in the MENA region. More than 35 companies were exhibiting their products and solutions from EVs to EV charging solutions and more.

As a Strategic Knowledge Partner, the CEBC and the members of its Future Mobility Working Group participated actively at EVIS in many ways including the organization of a series of policy dialogues between the government policymakers from across the MENA countries and the private sector companies, speaking at different knowledge sessions and showcasing state-of-the-art EV products and solutions.

  • Policy Dialogues: 

CEBC has been organizing these policy dialogues for many years acting as the voice of the private sector in the MENA region and creating an active platform for continuous dialogue between the policymakers in the region and the private sector stakeholders to discuss policy issues, best practices, and the way forward. During EVIS, the CEBC organized 7 policy dialogues with different government entities from across the UAE and KSA to meet with the CEBC members. Government entities included Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), and RAK Transport Authority.

Private sector stakeholders from the CEBC members and partners include CharIN, ABB, Volt.ae, BSA, TotalEnergies, CATEC Mobility, and more, accessing those policy dialogues is a one major membership benefit of the CEBC

  • Speaking at different knowledge sessions:  

The CEBC is always keen to raise awareness among the public and industry about the energy transition and sustainable mobility as a core element to reduce emissions. CEBC team and its members participated in different panel discussions and delivered several presentations throughout the agenda of EVIS.

 During the first two days of EVIS, attendees had access to the main conference sessions which hosted CEBC`s Chairman, Dr. Nasser Saidi who took part in the panel discussion “Leading the Transition to Sustainable Mobility”. While members including AFRY Management, TotalEnergies, Siemens, Hager Energy, Volt, CATEC Mobility, and ekar were presented by speakers who took the stage during several panel discussions to talk about multiple topics covering the Role of Policy in the Transition to New Energy Vehicles, Investing in the Future of E-Mobility, Powering the Mobility of the Future, E-Mobility in MENA: Challenges & Opportunities, and New Business Models Enabling New Mobility and more.

Taking place during the whole three days of the event, the Open Tech sessions had Members from Al Naboodah Group Enterprises LLC – UAE and Comeca giving presentations on Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Electric bus charging.

Other CEBC members such as TotalEnergies, ABB, Underwriters Laboratories, CITA EV, Al Naboodah, LeasePlan, and FENIX were present at several panel discussions on a variety of topics including Regulatory and Technical Challenges for EV Charging Infrastructure, Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, New Electric Vehicle Alternative Ownership Models, The Future of Mobility in the MENA Region, and Electrifying Public Transport.

  • The CEBC and its members exhibited their EV products and services:  

The exhibition part of the summit was a great chance for companies to connect with each other’s and with the end-users during the EVIS. More than 25 new products were launched in the exhibition, some of which were in the Middle East for the first time.

The CEBC was present as an exhibitor during the event which was an opportunity to support our members and connect with the industry and ecosystem. Some of the CEBC members including Al Naboodah, CITA EV, and PowerTech Mobility were there showcasing their products and innovations.

EVIS has succeeded to create a platform for the EV market in the MENA region. We are proud of this strategic partnership, and we look forward to seeing everyone again at EVIS2023.
