Energy Efficiency Drives for a More Sustainable MENA Region
The Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) and the Air-conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) co-hosted a webinar on “Energy Efficiency Drives for a More Sustainable MENA Region”.
Despite the introduction of various regulations, energy performance standards, and building codes in the MENA region, to improve energy efficiency and conserve energy use, there are still key challenges that need to be addressed. With more MENA countries announcing their net-zero pledges, it is becoming more important to improve compliance mechanisms to ensure that the ambitious green targets set are achieved and implemented properly.
Energy efficiency is regarded as ‘low hanging fruit’, as it is easier to implement than other climate action approaches. Join us for this webinar as we discuss topics such as:
- Verifying that performance of equipment is actually in compliance with Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS)
- Testing protocol
- Market surveillance
- Testing laboratories
This webinar addressed these impediments, as well as opportunities for energy efficiency in the region, and shared success stories from around the MENA. It also featured a panel discussion on “Guidance to Increasing Compliance Levels Across the Varying Regulations Affecting HVACR Systems in the MENA Region”. Speakers:
- Mrs. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Founder & Chairperson of Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) and Board Member of the World Green Building Council and the Emirates Green Building Council.
- Eng. Faisal Rachid, Senior Director at Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE)
- Maher Mousa, Director of Product Management & Compliance, ESG at Al Salem Johnson Controls
