The Ministry of transport, communications and Information Technology Launches The “Future Mobility” initiative within the activities of the Oman Sustainability Week to support the goals of environmental mobility in the Sultanate of Oman

The Ministry of transport, communications and Information Technology announced the launch of the future mobility initiative within the activities of the Oman Sustainability Week scheduled to take place from April 29 to May 1, 2024, which consists a week-long series of events that supporting the national objectives of sustainability in cooperation with the CONNECT Oman exhibitions organizing company.

The initiative comes in response to the urgent need to address carbon emissions. the Ministry of transport, communications and information technology has launched dedicated efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the transport, communications, and information technology sectors. the event will highlight innovators in the transport sector who are at the forefront of driving sustainability, cutting-edge technologies, digital solutions, data systems, smart infrastructure solutions, electric and hybrid vehicles, infrastructure, and complementary components that facilitate the transformative journey of the sector.

The future of Mobility Initiative at Oman Sustainability Week will be an effective platform for pioneers in the transport industry to showcase the latest concepts, solutions, technologies, and innovations in the field of eco-mobility, which will enhance the Sultanate’s effort to create a Net Zero CO2 emissions economy. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore emerging trends in the field of clean transport, interact with experts and industry leaders in the field of future mobility, and get a closer look at the constantly evolving mobility landscape.

Distinguished industry pioneers in the transport sector will participate in Oman Sustainability Week such as Asyad Group, Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah), bp, OQ, Oman LNG, Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Shell Oman, SLB, Sohar Aluminium, and Veolia, among others.

The ministry will also introduce additional initiatives as part of Oman Sustainability Week to support the transition to zero carbon neutrality, including the addition of the “environmental mobility” category as part of the Oman Sustainability Week awards, and the inclusion of environmental mobility projects and operations as part of the field visit program within the event’s activities.

Oman Sustainability Week is an important national event in the Sultanate dedicated to the future of energy, electricity, water, waste, environment, and society, which aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the Sultanate’s dedication to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the aim of achieving Net Zero by 2050. this is reflected in the selection of the theme of the next edition of the event in 2024, which is “sustainable living in a circular society”.
