Overview of MASEN’s Clean Energy and Renewables Landscape in Morocco

The CEBC Clean Energy Annual Summit is our flagship event of the year where experts and industry leaders from across the globe come together to discuss the clean energy trends, challenges, opportunities and outlook. The summit focuses on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market.

Key takeaways from the presentation:

– MASEN makes effort to connect the international developers with the local companies and encourages the developers to have local content as much as possible.

– MASEN has at least 6 projects in operation plus some projects that are going to develop.

– MASEN has developed expertise in optimizing the performance of production for the sites. It provides that expertise as technical assistance for other institutions in Africa.

– An example of a major complex is OUARZAZATE – the first multi technologies complex. A solar complex of 580 MW combining 3 different solar technologies.

– For future projects to reach the objectives, MASEN has about 6,000 MW in addition to what they sell, represented in different technologies, photovoltaic, wind, Hydro, and mix between photovoltaic and CSP.

– MASEN is working on Hydrogen as today it is one of the most important ways to produce and export easy energy.

– MASEN is working as an actor with the Climate Action Summit in the UN, working with The African bank of development and the ISLAMIC development bank.
